3 Remedies for Fear and Discouragement
Micah

As leaders, we can become fearful regarding the part we play. Many times, fear has come upon me as I’ve contemplated the task at hand. We all have the responsibility to connect people with their Heavenly Father. It is a great honor but also a great responsibility. When we recognize the weight of this reality, the enemy can use that revelation to speak fear into our lives. We must refuse this fear!

Respect the God who made you by respecting yourself.

When Israel was looking at what it meant to be God’s chosen nation in the middle of many pagan nations, they became afraid. God spoke to them concerning that fear in Isaiah 41. He said, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”(Is. 41:10) God didn’t try to avoid the topic, but addressed it directly. In essence God said, “If you will refuse fear and discouragement I will ensure your success.” What an incredible promise!

This means that our focus is refusing fear and discouragement. How do we accomplish that goal? The following are a few suggestions:

Remember
Remind yourself of what the Lord has already done for you. If He has done great things through you before He can do great things through you again!

Reconnect
Spend time in worship. It is difficult to be afraid in the presence of the Almighty One knowing He is your Father!

Respect
Respect the gifting God has placed within you. Your greatest mistake will be trying to be “like someone else”. Respect the God who made you by respecting yourself. Be YOU! You are the best you that has ever been or will ever be.

God is doing great things in His church. We get to play a part in what He is doing. Play your part without fear. God is ensuring your success for His Kingdom!
